Trent Miles

Founder & Financial Advisor

Trent Miles founded Tribute Wealth Management with the goal of helping as many clients as possible. If his two decades in the financial services industry have taught him anything, it’s that education is absolutely vital, so he strives every day to explain financial concepts and options to his clients in order to help them achieve financial security.

Trent’s principles and his attitude toward others were instilled in him by his father, Jeff Miles, who taught Trent everything he knows about life and the business. Jeff had 45 successful years of experience in the industry before passing away in 2021, and now Tribute Wealth Management carries his energy and knowledge forward, preserving his legacy of success. “He was my hero, my mentor and, most of all, my best friend,” Trent says. “Whether it was about insurance or just simple wisdom regarding life, my father always had the answer, and he was always there for me.”

Out of the five boys, Trent had the biggest love for sports. That sparked a deeper connection with his dad, and they bonded over golf, college sporting events and Utah Jazz basketball. They also worked together in business, and Trent still carries forward the same philosophy his father operated with. “It was about honesty and integrity above all. If he said it, he was going to do it,” Trent says.Trent now has clients all over the United States. He used to have a securities registration allowing him to trade equities, but he now holds his life and health insurance license only. For retirement, Trent believes that certain strategies—including indexed universal life insurance and annuities—can provide the protection from stock market drops, tax-advantaged lifetime income, guarantees backed by insurance companies and the potential for growth that are appropriate for many retirees, especially during times of volatility when stock market risk is high.

Like his father, Trent doesn’t believe in selling. “It’s not about selling; it’s about clients understanding how financial products work and what they actually do. It’s about understanding risks that can impact you and your family if you’re not careful. Rather than trying to sell things, I try to get in the trenches with my clients and educate them. I don’t want to do business with anyone who doesn’t completely understand what I’m trying to do for them,” Trent says. “I do my best to explain overall financial concepts as well as the pros and cons of each option that may be appropriate, and then I let them decide for themselves.”

While Trent has found plenty of success as a financial advisor, he believes his most valuable skill is his ability to connect with others. One of Trent’s favorite things about his job is that most of his clients become friends, opening the door to discuss any topic, even ones that don’t relate to the business partnership. “My dad was extremely successful in this industry, and so far throughout my career I’ve been extremely successful, but I think we’ve made more friends than anything,” he says.

Those friends give him the opportunity to discuss subjects that might often be played close to the vest. Trent is passionate about working with families and offering the products he offers because he has seen them work with his own father. His mother worked side-by-side supporting his dad in the business as she was raising the five boys, and the business always provided for the family from a financial perspective. “When my father passed, my mom was scared, but because of the things my dad did during his life, she has never had to worry about money,” Trent says. “It was very comforting to go through that process knowing that everything was going to be okay, and it was nice to know that my dad actually owned a lot of the products that I present to my clients.” Though he operates out of Salt Lake City, Trent now lives in Orange County with his wife. He also has three children, all of which still live in Utah, giving Trent the perfect reason to visit the state he calls home twice per month. Trent has also lived in Fresno and Atlanta in the past, but his heart will always be in Utah, where he still has season tickets to Jazz games.

Trent’s family is extremely close, and they can often be found playing games, at the beach or at theme parks. They also love to travel together, with some of their favorite spots being Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean. In his personal time, Trent enjoys playing golf and attending live sporting events and concerts. Though he’ll listen to just about any genre of music, his favorite band is Pearl Jam, and he’s seen many of their shows.

Trent has had to reinvent himself a few times throughout his career, whether it has been because of the crash of the housing market in 2008 when he worked in the mortgage industry or following the passing of his best friend, business partner and father in 2021. “I’m used to adapting, but I’ll never change my principles,” Trent says. “Opening Tribute Wealth Management has given me the perfect opportunity to give my father the recognition he deserves. I believe in my experience, my products and my foundation, and I’m extremely lucky to be able to share them with those I call friends and family.”
