Carolyn Leitherer

Director of Operations

Carolyn Leitherer joined Tribute Wealth Management as director of operations because she is aligned with founder Trent Miles’ vision for the firm and its future growth. “What I most enjoy is providing excellent service and building lasting relationships with clients,” she says.

With a degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Carolyn has more than 19 years of experience in the financial services industry. She was initially drawn to the profession by her fascination with the financial world and a strong desire to continually expand her knowledge of innovative financial products and effective money management strategies.

Leveraging many diverse past roles, Carolyn brings deep knowledge about different segments of the financial industry to her current position. She spent seven years in banking at Countrywide, providing investment accounting services for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac home loans. She spent another two years with a private advisory firm focused on healthcare. Most recently, she spent 10 years with Principal Financial Group, where she helped deliver comprehensive service to more than 1,000 clients, including 40 group accounts, which represented more than $100 million in assets. There, she successfully established new accounts across a range of financial products, including managed accounts, brokerage accounts, annuities, life insurance, disability insurance, and retirement accounts.

Carolyn is just as multifaceted in her personal life. Married for 32 years to her engineer husband, Art, the couple has two grown boys on either coast who are also successful career engineers: one a nuclear engineer and one a chemical engineer. Though Carolyn likes to joke that she is at the “top of the nerd pile,” the truth is that her two boys, three years apart, have always been very well-rounded, playing football, basketball, and lacrosse from the time the oldest was just 6-years-old all the way through college. “I love sporting events and I loved going to their games for 25 years; in fact, I cried at the last game of my youngest,” Carolyn says.

While raising her sons, Carolyn took a 10-year hiatus from full-time work when they were young, starting her own interior design firm, which initially blossomed in her neighborhood. She still enjoys interior design, and she and Art recently completely remodeled their Scottsdale home themselves, taking it down to the studs and rebuilding the interior to her specifications.

In addition to interior design, sporting events, and traveling to see her sons on either coast, in her free time Carolyn also loves rock and roll concerts and classic cars. She absolutely loves music, and has been known to plaster her office walls with concert posters. She is also a self-professed “gearhead,” who used to own a ’68 Camaro which she completely rebuilt with some friends. Still crazy about classic cars, Carolyn hopes to buy another one someday, attending the annual Barrett-Jackson car show with zest.
